Jay C. Brown
Vice President
Jay C. Brown has a BA from Texas Tech University in Theatre, Speech Communication, English; and an MFA Acting/ Directing also from Texas Tech University and is joining The Edge Theatre after 20+ years as Artistic Director at the Lubbock Community Theatre. He is currently serving as Vice-President of the Board and Executive Producer for 2023 Season of productions.
Jay taught Theatre, Speech, and English at Lubbock-Cooper High School for 20 years and during that time he and his wife Pam co-directed one-act play and competed on the state level 7 times.
Jay was a member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association and served on the Board of Directors for 10 years as Membership Chairman. While a member of TETA, he was named Secondary School Educator of the Year, Community/ Junior College Educator of the Year, and received the TETA Founder’s Award.
During his over 50-year career in local theatre, Jay estimates that he has directed over 200 productions. Some of his favorite productions are The Diary of Anne Frank, Other Desert Cities, The Crucible, The Laramie Project, Assassins, All the Way Home, Quilters, Noises Off!, Elizabeth I, both Nunsense and Nuncrackers, both A Tuna Christmas and Red, White and Tuna and, most recently, For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday.
Jay is married to local actress Pam Brown, and in 2017, Jay and Pam were awarded the
William D. Kerns Performing and Visual Arts Award for their contributions to theatre in the Lubbock Area.
